Seattle’s Cedarbrook Lodge, local celebrity chefs and farms fight to end hunger in Western Washington

SEATTLE – (April 29, 2013) – In a collective effort to reduce hunger in Western Washington, Cedarbrook Lodge and a team of local celebrity chefs raised more than $150,000 for Food Lifeline at the 2nd annual Savor: Sustaining Lives, Nourishing Hope benefit on Saturday, April 20, 2013.

“We’re honored to host Savor at Cedarbrook,” said Roy Breiman, culinary director of Cedarbrook Lodge. “It’s an event where we as chefs not only get to collaborate together on one menu and one dinner service, but also have the opportunity to showcase our support and appreciation for great community organizations such as Food Lifeline. Together, we’re working to end hunger in our communities and that is truly rewarding.”

The presenting chefs at the 2nd annual Savor: Sustaining Lives, Nourishing Hope dinner included Roy Breiman and Mark Bodinet of Copperleaf Restaurant & Bar; Thierry Rautureau of LUC; Steven Ariel of TRACE; Ethan Stowell of Ethan Stowell Restaurants; and Kevin Davis of Steelhead Diner and Blueacre; and VIP pre-party chef Armandino Batali, founder of Salumi. Each chef prepared and presented a course for the evening and donated an exclusive chef experience for the Savor live auction. Some of the auction items included a Hama Hama oyster cookout with Mark Bodinet; a private “Eataly” dinner experience with Armandino Batali and three mystery celebrity chefs; a dinner at the iconic and soon-to-close Rover’s with Thierry Rautureau, and more.

Several new elements at this year’s Savor included farmer and chef partnerships, and a VIP pre-party. Creating a true farm-to-table experience, the chefs partnered with the local farmers, ranchers and fishers including: Full Circle Farm in Carnation, Wash.; Nicky Farm in Portland, Ore.; Nettles Farm in Lummi Island, Wash.; Richter Farm in Fife, Wash; and Wild West Seafood in Neah Bay, Wash.

The VIP pre-party took place on the Copperleaf Terrace, and featured barrel tastings from JM Cellars, oysters from Hama Hama Oyster Farm, chef book signings, live jazz trio and more.
