Rhododendron Species Foundation & Botanical Garden
The lush natural restored wetlands of Cedarbrook Lodge’s grounds are truly a treasure and genuinely beautiful to behold. A grand backdrop to a secluded and quintessentially Northwest lodging alternative, Cedarbrook is only 16 minutes (12 miles) from one of Seattle’s most horticultural treasures – the Rhododendron Species Foundation & Botanical Garden. This non-profit membership organization is dedicated to the conservation, public display and distribution of Rhododendron species.
So if reveling in the distinctly different yet natural beauties of both appeals to you, Cedarbrook Lodge is the ideal overnight (or longer) venue. They are must-see’s for Seattle visitors.
It may be ‘corny’ and perhaps even a bit misleading to say these two venues are breath-taking, but for lovers of horticulture, they really are. At the Rhododendron venue, visitors may enjoy over 10,000 rhododendrons growing in a beautiful 22-acre woodland garden. It is home to one of the largest collections of species rhododendrons in the world… over 600 of the more than 1,000 species found in the wilds of North America, Europe, and Asia as well as the tropical regions of southeast Asia and northern Australia. Unique gifts and plants are also for sale.
Back at Cedarbrook, visit the highly practical on-site farm and gardens, planted with sustainability in mind and absolutely the freshest produce outcome possible. But be warned! You may be encouraged to participate in either a planting or harvesting cycle!
